About Us

A group of dedicated volunteers are working together with the Bundjalung people of Northern New South Wales in Australia to establish an environmental and cultural education centre which is helping to cool our planet as well as showing many other people how to take the same simple steps in their own environment.

Ancient Wisdom Offers A Solution For Global Warming...

We asked the Aboriginal elders from one of the oldest cultures in the world who have been spiritually connected to our land for centuries and whose knowledge about managing the land has been passed down for generations.

Their answer was simple yet powerful. The traditional custodians of the land asked us to look after the trees or in their words...

 Hold Onto The Trees
‘Jalinamanja’

We took their advice and created the ‘Adopt A Tree’ program…

…A Win-Win Concept For All!

We live in interesting times. In the blink of an eye things are rapidly changing. Beliefs, traditions and even our values fall by the wayside as we rush forward boldly into this fast paced, daring new world. And when we look around at some of the major problems our world is facing, it’s easy to throw up our hands and say… "What can I do?... I’m just one person"

It’s understandable to feel this way…. the problems seem just too BIG for any one of us to make a real difference.

But the good news is, we have found a simple solution to help cool our planet and you can join with us and do something right now that will make a BIG difference to the world we live in. And what’s even better is it’s easier than you think. With the world changing so fast, isn’t it good to know there is a place that teaches a positive way forward, a place that encourages us to value and respect our cultural traditions, a place where youth… our future leaders… can discover practical solutions for the challenges we face now and the ones that lie ahead.

Is there such a place?
Yes, there is….

Encompassing 40 acres of bushland and surrounded by 4 world heritage national parks, Ganngjalah (pronounced gung-jar-lar) is a cultural and environmental education centre and nature reserve that has been established to raise awareness and respect for Australian indigenous culture, whilst proactively developing environmental solutions for issues such as global warming through its ‘TreeLovers’ (Adopt-A-Tree) program.

No small feat! The well coined term ‘Think Globally, Act Locally’ has become an avid way of life for the volunteers at Ganngjalah who are planting thousands of trees due to the growing popularity of the Adopt-a-Tree concept. People from all over the world are visiting the TreeLovers website to adopt an Australian tree to help absorb some of the carbon they create, cool our planet and safeguard the future for generations to come as well as forever immortalise their name in the minds of everyone who sees and enjoys the benefits of their adopted tree.

Where Does Your Money Go?

In the following video, Johnnie Mac (co-founder) demonstrates
exactly what we do when a tree is adopted

When a tree is adopted, not only will your name be celebrated for all the world to see, you’ll also be assisting to:

  • Regenerate native bushland and rainforests
  • Replenish bush foods and medicines that were once abundant in nature
  • Establish gardens for interactive education
  • Increase food and shelter for native wildlife

When an adopted tree has produced seeds, fruits, nuts or berries, Ganngjalah’s specialists and volunteers will use the harvest from the tree to help:

  • Expand upon Ganngjalah's (botanic/arboretum) educational garden themes,
  • Re-plant cleared or logged bushland and
  • Re-establish a safe nature reserve for wildlife
  • Protect endangered species

When you join our growing community of TreeLovers, volunteers at Ganngjalah ‘Place of Learning’ – the home of TreeLovers, will plant and care for your adopted Australian native tree.

From the time your tree is planted it will immediately start assisting to reduce the effects of global warming, but as you can see by adopting a tree, not only will you be making a remarkable difference to the future of our planet, but

“Long After You Are Gone… You WILL Be Remembered...”

People who adopt a tree receive many beautiful gifts and benefits, but knowing that their tree will improve the environment and clean the air for 50, 100 or even 1000 years is one the most valuable gifts of all.

Is Your Donation Tax Deductible?

Our organisation is a registered educational charity, not for profit (we prefer to call it profit for purpose) and a deductible gift recipient, which means your donation is fully tax deductible. Watch the video with Michelle McCarthy explaining how this became official.

Knowing that long after you’ve gone, your tree will still be working towards a cleaner future for your children, your grandchildren and your great grandchildren.

But if that isn’t enough… the good news is that by doing something as simple as adopting a tree right today, not only you will you make a big difference to the world we live in and you will also be remembered and honoured, not just for this lifetime, but for many generations to come.
